How to Utilise Instagram to Get Clients

Your Content Strategy 

 

Success on Instagram isn’t just about posting content. It’s about having a content strategy. Engaging and relevant content attracts new followers and retains existing ones, helping grow your audience organically.

Here are the key things we do with our content on Instagram that helps us to attract new people to the business, nurture our existing leads, and convert our warm audience. 

 

1. 3-7 Second Reels

 

These types of reels help grow our reach and attract new audiences. They can be quick tips and hacks, behind the scenes content or trending challenges. 

How and why are these short-form videos so effective? Two reasons:

  • Attention spans are shorter than ever, so quick and impactful content is key. 3-7 second reels are perfect for capturing attention instantly.
  • These short reels often have higher completion rates, meaning people are more likely to watch them to the end. This is great for the algorithm and boosts engagement.  

2. Longer 1+ Minute Reels and Carousels 

 

We use this type of content to help nurture our audience, begin to build trust with them and position us as the go-to expert. 

How and why is this type of content effective?

  • Longer content allows you to delve deeper into topics, providing valuable information that can educate and inform your audience. This is key to the nurture process. 
  • By consistently sharing detailed and valuable content, you establish yourself as an authority in your field, building trust and credibility with your audience.

Examples of 1+ minute reels are talking heads. This might be educational or story-format. 

Examples of carousels are step-by-step guides or before and after transformations. 

 

3. Instagram Stories 

 

Instagram stories are great to share behind the scenes content so people can get to know the brand. Post regularly on stories to stay on top of your followers' minds and feeds. You can use features like polls, quizzes, and countdowns to increase interaction.

We find lead generation stories are particularly useful for starting conversations with potential clients and getting people into the DMs. We do lead generation stories on our Instagram a good few times a week. 

What is a lead generation story and how does it work?

This is where you put a poll up your stories with some text that says something like this:

'I am looking for X amount of people who want to achieve Y in the next Z amount of days, is that you?' 

Your poll will then say something like - “yessss” and “help me!”

Everyone who then votes on the poll, build a relationship with in the DM's and sell them into your offer.

 

Your DM Strategy

 

A solid DM strategy is what’s going to convert your audience into paying clients. Use DMs to follow up with potential clients who have shown interest in your products or services through comments, likes or story interactions.

Here’s an example of an effective DM strategy: 

  • Use your content to naturally get people into the DMs. You can do this by providing value in a post with a call to action for a free offer that says: “Comment the word X and I’ll send it to you”. 
  • Send a DM to everyone who comments on the post with the link to the free resource.
  • Two days later, follow up. Ask them if they had time to check it out, remind them about the value of the free offer, and ask them if they have any questions etc. 
  • If they reply, great. Keep the conversation going by learning more about their unique goals and challenges. Then offer specific tips, personal support or resources based on their response. Then once you’ve built rapport, transition to the offer and highlight the key end result of the offer. Make sure there is an enticing reason to sign up now rather than later. 
  • If they don’t reply to the first message, follow up again in a few days. Then follow up again! The fortune is in the follow up!
